Jordan Kelly is an Anishinaabe Director and Cinematographer from the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nations in Northwestern Ontario, now based in Ottawa. A graduate of Sault College’s Digital Film Production programme and Durham College’s Advanced Filmmaking programme, Jordan’s work is rooted in storytelling that centres Indigenous voices and experiences.

Selected for the CBC New Indigenous Voices programme in 2021, Jordan has honed his craft through a diverse range of projects. His short films, including Dread and In The Way, showcase his ability to craft compelling narratives. In contrast, short documentaries like Comprehensive Community Planning and Maaziinapiikiniiganan Tiibaaji’Mowinan delve into important social issues.

As a Doc Accelerator Fellow at the Hot Docs Film Festival, Jordan gained invaluable mentorship from industry leaders, further refining his unique approach to filmmaking. With experience as an Assistant Production Coordinator on Nadaamaadis: Red Power Rising, he brings technical experience and a collaborative spirit to every project.

Most recently, Jordan served as the Director of Photography on the films When the Motherland is Knocking at Your Door and Criss-Cross Applesauce, both of which premiered in December 2024.

Jordan also finds it weird to write about himself in the third person. But he believes he had to do it because he had seen many others do it. At the time, he thought it was a good idea, but as Jordan began writing, he had become weirded out talking about himself in the third person. He figured he had gotten through a paragraph already, so he might as well keep going. Now, he is rambling and unsure how to end his "about me" post.
